On Spec: Nodus Sector Deep

With their consistently beautiful releases, Nodus has been on the radar of many collectors and enthusiasts. I received an email recently, containing a press release for the brand’s newest addition in the Sector series–a diver capable of 500m of water resistance that is still relatively compact and packed with specs that piqued my interest. Today we’re diving into the new Nodus Sector Deep.

Nodus Sector Deep Dive Watch Review

“The adaptive nature of the Sector series meets the ever-changing needs of the world traveller while maintaining the core values of Nodus: research, design, and passion.”

Nodus Sector Deep Dive Watch Review

With the release of their previous dive watch, the Sector Dive, it’s no surprise that Nodus have designed a new dive watch that pushes the depths even further–an accurate example of “more is more.” The Sector Deep challenges the limits of design, functionality, and aesthetics to create a rugged yet beautiful diver’s watch with some unique function and aesthetic changes; the left-hand drive crown is a perfect example.

Nodus Sector Deep Dive Watch Review

“The Sector was born from the concept that a well-designed platform should be equally versatile as it is functional. A watch that could defy the depths or soar through the clouds. One that could be dragged through the fields yet still slip under a cuff.”

Equipped with a 316L stainless steel case, the Sector Deep measures 42mm across the bezel and 38mm in diameter with a case thickness of 13.6mm. A larger size in width and thickness is often needed if a watch is to achieve a higher depth rating. However, the overall sizing of the Sector Deep is still relatively compact, in spite of its laudable water resistance. In fact, the lug-to-lug and lug width–both important ratios when it comes comfort on wrist–are equally compact, at 47mm and 20mm respectively. This allows for nicely nested feel on wrist, which is fantastic.

Nodus Sector Deep Dive Watch Review

“The Sector Deep case is constructed of surgical grade 316L stainless steel and is glass bead-blasted for an even matte finish with deep gray luster. The 38mm-wide 47mm lug-to-lug midcase is unchanged from the rest of the Sector family featuring the same sharp angular beveled lugs that are designed to hug the wrist.”

Nodus Sector Deep Dive Watch Review

The key focal point for most watches is the dial. The Sector Deep is nothing short of legible. The bright white rectangular and square indices and hands contrast perfectly with the rich, black dial. Surrounding the dial is a 12-hour chapter ring, followed by a 60-minute, 120-click uni-directional bezel for GMT and underwater timing functionalities. In fact, the Sector Deep packs so much performance into such a small space, without looking cluttered, that its almost a lesson on how much you can plug into a tool watch. Nodus have also chosen the Seiko NH35 to bring the Sector Deep to life, adding even more reliability and ruggedness.

The Nodus Sector Deep retails for $575USD. For more information, please visit the brand website.
