What better gift can one give than the gift of time? Of course, this is often more easily said than done. Watch lovers can be a fastidious group. The following five recommendations run the gamut in Christmas gift-giving suggestions from high-end, limited edition releases to cool merch and straps. They also indicate some of the independent brands we have been excited about this year.
Off the Cuff: ZENEA Ula Diver Time and Space Meteor Dial
More than 1 million years ago, north of the Arctic Circle, the dial for this watch struck the Earth. The Muonionalusta meteorite was first discovered west of the border between Sweden and Finland in 1906 near the village of Kitkiöjärvi. It is believed to be more than 4.5 billion years old--one of the oldest known meteorites to have ever hit the planet. It has witnessed the rise and fall of four Ice Ages. Talk about history on your wrist.
Off the Cuff: ZENEA Ula Diver
The Ula Diver comes in a nicely sized 41mm case that tapers to 20mm at the bracelet. There is a fine polished chamfering along the outside of the gently sloping lugs that divides the brushed surfaces on top from the polished sides. The coin-edge bezel extends just beyond the case on either edge and there are faceted crown protectors on the right. The bezel insert is lumed sapphire and colour-matched to the dial.
