With this latest release of the Khaki Field Titanium, Hamilton effortlessly marries sophistication with ruggedness, making it a solid addition to the brand’s sprawling and popular Khaki Field Collection. With its new bracelet, the timepiece is sure to please both urban explorers and the outdoor adventurers. While this review focuses on the 38mm blue dial, the watch is also available in a 42mm case and a corresponding pair of references in black PVD.

Key Features of the Khaki Field Titanium
Generally speaking, in a field watch, less is more. Within the constraints of the typical field watch design cues, however, Hamilton have managed over the years to produce a number of strong dial layouts with both subtle and bold departures. This newest release is no exception. Still omnipresent is the military layout with strong Arabics around the outside of the sector-style dial and a 24-hour index closer to the centre. The chapter ring features a stark minute track with numerals on the fives, and text is reserved to the brand and model name only. Slim sword hands—de rigeur—in many iterations, along with an arrow-tipped seconds round out the main elements.
Despite the minimalist aesthetics, however, there is a fine azurage finish behind the hour markers that we find in other versions of the Auto collection (as opposed to the Mechanical) which elevates the design slightly. The blue tone used here is one of my favourite dial variants. Hamilton used it in the H70545540 reference last year and I am happy to see it back. The Arabics, hands, and chapter ring plots have also been treated with Super-LumiNova, for after hours visibility, and the dateless dial has an appreciable sense of symmetry.
Encased in lightweight titanium, the Khaki Field exudes a modern yet timeless charm. Its matte finish not only complements its military-inspired heritage but also absorbs light and reduces reflections. Of course, titanium’s exceptional strength-to-weight ratio makes this iteration of the Khaki Field a formidable companion for everyday wear and more demanding adventures. The material’s resilience against scratches and corrosion ensures that the watch will age gracefully, retaining its allure for years to come. Whether you’re tackling outdoor challenges or navigating a bustling city, this timepiece can withstand the rigours of diverse environments.
The version featured here is 38mm in diameter and a relatively svelte 11.68mm in thickness. It also sports a restrained lug to lug of approximately 45mm, according to my calipers. The crystal is a gently cambered sapphire dome with a matching, screw down display case back. Although the crown is push/pull, the watch is rated to 100m of water resistance.
Beyond appearance and proportions, the Khaki Field Titanium is equipped with a reliable H10 automatic movement and a monster power reserve of 80 hours with an anti-magnetic Nivachron balance spring.
As to be expected, the watch’s lightweight titanium construction translates to exceptional comfort on the wrist, even during prolonged wear. But the upgrade here, over last year’s release, is the robust matching 3-link bracelet. It’s a straightforward design with solid contoured pin links and a milled foldover clasp with push-button release and three layers of micro-adjust.

Of Interest
Part of Hamilton’s allure to watch enthusiasts is rooted in its military heritage which can be traced back to WWI. Designed to be easily legible in the field of battle and reliable enough to track troop movements, Hamilton’s railroad watches saw early service. This reputation for accuracy caused the US military to call upon the brand during WWII, and in 1942, Hamilton ceased civilian operations in order to keep up with troop demands.
All branches of the military were issued Hamiltons, including the Navy and Air Force. Ten thousand marine chronometers saw action, and pilot watches were used in dead reckoning navigation.
Since then, Hamilton has occasionally released special editions and collaborations within the various Khaki lines. These limited-edition models often feature unique design elements or pay homage to specific military units, historical events, or pop culture references. These releases further contribute to the watch’s allure and collectability.
Quibbles
The Khaki Field Titanium has an AR undercoating, but traditionally—and here—it does not shield the domed sapphire from environmental reflections. It is not enough to seriously impinge upon visibility, but it has given rise to the age-old AR debate: to top coat or not to top coat. Some dislike the blue hue of excessive AR and the fact that it is more easily scratched than the actual scratch-resistant sapphire glass. However, others prefer the almost “see-though” quality of multi-levels of AR. Quibble or a question of preference? You decide.
Final Thoughts
The Hamilton Khaki Field Titanium melds form and function to create a value-driven package. With its striking design, durability, functionality, and comfort, it embodies the essence of Hamilton’s commitment to quality watchmaking. Whether you’re a horology enthusiast or simply in search of a versatile, dependable watch, the balanced dial and lightweight build of the Khaki Field Titanium is not likely to let you down. This blue iteration is a winner for style and the available sizing options will cater to most needs. With solid specs, historical provenance, and a reasonable price tag, the Khaki Field Titanium will put you in a respectable Swiss watch in short order.
